4 New iMacs For Apple Lovers

Apple’s latest iMac range are not
only pleasing to the eyes but makes every techy fibre in us scream in sheer joy

If
you have not already heard, Apple has updated their iMac range with two
impressive new iMacs, firstly the 21.5” iMac with a Retina 4K display and the
other 27” version with a whopping Retina 5K display. Such high screen
resolutions are usually reserved for televisions, but are now being brought to
you with the new iMac range.

The
27” iMac comes in three variants, while the 21.5” iMac only comes in one. Most
of its internal components like processor, RAM and in-built memory like all its
other computers, have individual options for upgrades.

For
those who are unfamiliar with what 4K or 5K resolution, just think of the
clearest Smartphone screen you have seen before and multiply that by at least
three times. The new iMacs will give you crystal clear images without blurring
on any edges or parts of the image, and lifelike images as if the object is
right in front of you, because of a wider colour gamut.

This
new range of iMacs push for excellence, speed and performance while still
keeping to its really sleek exterior. There are some notable key features –aside
from the crazy high-resolution screens- that can be seen throughout this new
iMac range. Firstly, the Fusion Drive which is a cross between a regular hard
drive and a flash drive, translating to faster file transfers, starting your
iMac and application launch. Sadly, only the two higher-end 27” iMac has this
Fusion Drive as its stock memory.

Secondly,
there is an option to upgrade your RAM for the 27” iMac up to 32GB. You read
that right, 32GB worth of RAM – a frivolous amount if you ask us.

Lastly,
the three new companion accessories, Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse 2 and Magic
Trackpad 2 – Apple seems to have an infatuation with the use of the word ‘Magic’.
The most notable difference between these three accessories and its predecessor
is that they finally come with in-built rechargeable lithium-ion batteries –
unlike its predecessor which needed AA batteries that are a hassle to deal
with. All three devices are charged with the Lightning-to-USB cable and can operate
about a month on a full charge.

Availability And Pricing

Both
iMacs are now available. The 21.5” Retina 4K Display iMac retails at US$1660 (SG$2288)
and prices for the 27” Retina 5K Display iMac starts at US$1950 (SG$2688)
onward. Prices for compatible accessories like the new Magic Keyboard and Magic
Mouse 2 start from US$86 (SG$118).
