Twitter Rolls Out New Feature For NFT Owners To Flaunt Their (Verified) Collections

Twitter has rolled out a new feature, allowing Non Fungible Tokens – or NFTs – owners to flaunt their authenticated collections in their profile photos, but only if you’re a Twitter Blue subscriber with an iOS device.

Users can now set their profile picture to an NFT they own but first, they will have to verify it by connecting it to their crypto wallet.

Once verified, their digital asset will be displayed in a special hexagon shape that shows them as the owner of that NFT.

The move is designed to prevent others from uploading images of NFTs that don’t belong to them.

And in a bid to prevent phishing, Twitter reminded users that it would not request funds from their crypto wallet and that users should remain vigilant nonetheless and check all incoming wallet requests.

Twitter had confirmed in September that it was looking to build a feature to authenticate and display NFTs

The social media giant had also previously experimented with NFTs – releasing its own collection last year and Twitter CEO Jack Dorset sold an NFT of his first tweet for US$2.9 million early in March, with a significant chunk of proceeds going to charity.
