FromSoftware’s Kitao Walks Viewers Through What They Can Expect From Elden Ring

Less than a month to go before release and I’m getting hyped for Elden Ring.

Bandai Namco recently uploaded an interview with FromSoftware’s Yasuhiro Kitao during the Taipei Game Show, walking viewers through what they can expect for Elden Ring.

Kitao said the game is an open world dark fantasy RPG, with a backstory created by Game of Thrones author, George R R Martin himself.

According to Kitao, Elden Ring will feature the most detailed world FromSoftware has ever created, with players able to customise their characters and equipment.

The interview showed excerpts from the game and Kitao also discussed the advantages of certain fight styles available in the game.

Developers carried out a closed network test for Elden Ring last year and for those who played it – expect some changes in the full game, including for enemy and NPC placements.

Kitao said he expects players to clear the main route in about 30 hours but repeatedly highlighted how the game has been created to reduce player stress.

Translation: Expect pain but gentle pain.

(For those who have played previous FromSoftware games – you know what I mean.)

The title also supports online multiplayer in which you and your friends can work together to bring down a high level boss.

Kitao also said the title will be ready for sale on 25 February.

The game was supposed to be released in January but was pushed back. Kitao said the master version has  since been submitted, and that the team was currently working on a day one patch.

To say that I’m excited is an understatement and I’m not alone – Elden Ring is currently the most wishlisted game on Steam.
