It’s been hot and it looks set to get hotter.
So much so that Japanese game developer Nintendo has issued a warning against using the Nintendo Switch in high temperatures.
In a tweet in Japanese, Nintendo warned that if players used the Switch in a hot place, it may contribute to the rise in temperature for the main unit.
Blockage of the Switch’s intake and exhaust ports would also contribute to the heating of the device and the company recommended that the console not be used in areas higher than 35℃.
Nintendo said if the Switch’s temperature is too high, it may automatically go to sleep to protect the device, although it’s unclear if the heat will do any long-term damage to your console.
For those who prefer to play your Switch in TV mode, Nintendo said to make sure your device is in a well-ventilated area.
The warning comes as Japan is currently sweltering under an unforgiving heatwave – its worst on record.
Still, considering that parts of Asia have also been hit by rising temperatures, I think it’s a warning all Switch users should take to heart.
